Tudor Association hosted their second annual Janes Walk: Tudor SafetyWalk. Thanks to Jeff Marriott from Fire Prevention who spoke on a very timely issue, fire safety and the new Fire Smart program and to Constable Steve Baker who took us on a very informative walk through Tudor speaking on street, home and personal safety. Over 35 people attended. Thanks to all who came out for a beautiful evening
I noticed a dog wandering across 13th street north. He was very little and clearly scared. Finally, using a dog treat as bait, he came to me and I was able to pick him up. I took him to work and kept him in my office while I called the number on his tags. The owners, who had been out searching for him, came to get him and their little girl started crying tears of joy when he saw him!!!
In early December, I led the Christmas tree lighting at Lethbridge city hall by also kicking off the campaign to donate food and toys to the food banks. Its important to inspire others by leading by example. My December mayor's column was also focussed on the importance of giving and caring for others.
I bought coffee for someone at Home and Garden Show when he discovered he had no cash on him after he ordered.
Had a delicious potluck with friends this past Sunday.
Didn't start giving until later in my life but once I started not going to stop. It's in you to give and doesn't cost you anything but a little time
I belong to a local Rotary club and through that club we have the opportunity to select youth to attend a leadership camp in Canmore in May. I am so amazed by the dedication and work done by my fellow Rotarians - especially Kristina, Eva, Jill and Danielle - to make these opportunities come true for youth who have earned it by giving back to the community in their own ways! Thanks friends!
